:: a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese ::

Jamin (& the rest of us) was invited to his first American birthday party this past weekend. His friend Colin, from church, was turning 4 & had a big birthday bash at Chuck E. Cheese. Basically its a kids themed restaurant that causes parents to want to shoot their foot or poke themselves in the eye to get out of there. Theres loud musical games, flashing neon lights & lots of kids running round pumped up on sugar & the natural high the environment provides.

Before we went I happened to stumble upon this blog written by another Mum about her experience at Chuck E. Cheese. It provides a lot of laughs to those who will never have to face Chuck E. himself, but it basically scared me & Danny into wondering if there was anyway we could get out of the party. But being the good & dedicated parents that we are, we knew there was no way we could get out of going to Jamin's first party in SLC.

The pictures below don't really do it justice. It was much louder, brighter & more chaotic than it seems.

Danny helping Jamin on one of the games.

The boys trying out the cars.

This monster truck was actually pretty cool. It was so life-like Kael actually got a little scared!

Jamin sat at the party table & had lunch all by himself. He is growing up so fast!

Upon our return to the mothership (home) the family collapsed & tried to recover. The kids loved it, the parents... not so much. I would be happy to never return to the "magical place of Chuck E. Cheese".

  2. I had also read that blog from rants from mommy land and groaned when I saw your entry! At least you can consider it another unique American experience!
